Key Takeaways

  •  Surrounding yourself with like-minded women is really important for your mental health.
  •  There is so much pressure to raise these savant children in today’s society. Let your kids be kids.
  •  Motherhood is realizing you need to be ready to be triggered and have all of your buttons pushed.
  •  Having a child doesn’t mean that someone is going to unconditionally love you, it means that you will need to dig deep to find unconditional love for a child that will trigger you beyond belief.
  •  Put yourself in your child’s perspective when they are having big feelings so you can understand where they are coming from. It will be easier for you to help navigate them through it once you see it from their perspective.
  •  To little kids, something that seems like is not a big deal, can be a huge deal for them.
  •  Women want more spiritual and personal growth.
  •  Women want a sisterhood again.

Actionable Solutions

What to Do When You Are Feeling Overwhelmed

  • Start with 5 minutes.
  • Sit quietly and take long deep breaths.
  • Think about why you wanted to have kids in the first place.
  • That will hopefully bring you back to a place of gratitude and purpose.

How to Connect With Yourself Spiritually

  • Set aside at least 10 minutes for yourself.
  • In the morning before your kids get up, read a spiritual book. Brene Brown books are a good place to start.
  • Get out in nature more. Collect acorns with your kids.
  •  Remember to breathe. Breathing can be so healing.
  • Take 10 long, conscious breaths throughout the day. Especially when you feel emotions coming up.

Hardest Decision To Make as a Mom

  •  Releasing her children to their lives and letting go of the expectations and aspirations she had for them. Trusting that they know what is best for them and watching them grow into themselves, regardless if she sees their decisions as mistakes.

A-Ha Moment About Parenting

  •  When her teenage daughter told her that she is the type of person that needed to try anything (drugs in this case), Missy realized that she had to allow her daughter to be herself.

Most Excited About

  • Beyond The Red Tent. Fostering that Facebook Group community and filling a need that is very much there.
